Hey! I'm Shannon.
Thanks for visiting! Food is my love language and I am ecstatic to share it with
you!
I live in the remote North Eastern corner of California with my husband and our
two cowkids. We live in a little valley off the beaten path that I truly believe is one
of the most beautiful places on earth! While living out here comes with it’s
challenges, the everyday blessings are abundant. My husband is a fourth generation California cattle rancher and we run cattle in Northern California and Southern Oregon.
While my main titles are ranch wife and mom, I wear many hats. Beyond the
everyday life on the ranch, I have an equine therapy business, I homeschool our
two boys, and haul kids to rodeos, 4-H, and baseball. When my schedule allows, I
travel to compete in barrel races around the Pacific North West.
My first horse was a sorrel gelding that my uncle gave me. I am positive that horse is the reason I have a gravitational pull towards blaze faced sorrels, even to this day. While there have been many before them, my two main mounts these days are two sorrel mares. Brandy and Liza.
Brandy was my husband's ranch horse that I always intended to eventually make mine. Mission accomplished! For the last four years she has been in my string as a ranch horse and barrel horse. She is sweet as pie and has a golden mane that gets people's attention everywhere we go.
Liza is a young mare that I raised. Her story comes from a line of sorrel mares before her. Including her mother, who I ranched and ran barrels on. She also took care of my boys as babies when they were learning to ride. Liza has her mother's grit and try, plus a big personality full of sass! She is everything I dreamed of.
Thanks to the encouragement of a few good friends and of course my husband and boys I've decided to follow this dream of sharing the recipes of my life with you. I hope you not only find recipes for food but recipes of inspiration, good laughs and a simpler life. So, grab a cup of coffee and join me at my table! You are welcome anytime!
