1 Hour Dinner Rolls

Everyone needs a simple dinner roll recipe to whip up on a weeknight, that are also good enough to grace your table for a more formal meal.

This recipe uses basic ingredients. It is simple to put together and will fill your house with the fabulous scent of fresh baked bread.

Who doesn't love a big fluffy, buttery roll with a cozy bowl of soup?!

NOTES

While this recipe calls for all purpose flour, you can substitute with bread flour if you would like.

On your table and ready to serve in an hour. This basic yet delicious dinner roll recipe will become a staple for weeknight dinners or your fanciest dinner party.

Ingredients

1 ½ Cups Milk
4 Tbs Salted Butter
1 Tbs Sugar or Honey
2 ½ tsp Dry Active Yeast
1 tsp Salt
3 ½-4 Cups All Purpose Flour
4-6 Tbs Melted Butter for tops of rolls

Directions

In a saucepan, warm the milk over medium heat. When it begins to steam, remove from heat and whisk in the butter allowing it to melt. Pour into the bowl of a stand mixer.
Add the sugar to the milk mixture, gently stir to dissolve the sugar. Let the mixture cool until lukewarm.
When the milk mixture has cooled a bit, sprinkle the yeast over the top. Whisk gently, then allow the yeast to bloom. About 5-10 minutes. The top will look bubbly or foamy.
Using the dough hook attachment, turn on the stand mixer at a low speed. Add the first cup of flour and salt. Mix until the flour is mostly absorbed.
Continue to add the remaining flour ½ cup at a time. You can increase the mixer speed as you add more flour. When the dough forms a soft ball and pulls from the sides completely, stop adding flour.
Remove the bowl and cover with a damp towel or saran wrap. Let sit in a warm place for 20-30 minutes and the dough doubles in size. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees once dough is doubled.
When dough has risen, place on a lightly floured surface. Cut the dough into 12 even pieces and gently roll in balls.
Butter a 9x13 baking dish with butter. Place the rolls evenly in the dish, leaving some space between them to allow for rising. Let sit for 5-10 minutes. The rolls will rise again before baking.
Brush the tops with melted butter then place in the oven. Bake for 15-18 minutes until the tops are golden brown.
Remove from the oven and brush the tops of hot rolls with more melted butter. Allow to cool enough to handle. Serve.
